Mayor Proposes Red Light Cameras For Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Mayor Byron Brown (D-Buffalo) is again pushing red light cameras, an initiative that he says would make Queen City intersections safer.

A recent study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety examined red light cameras in 14 large cities. Researchers found cameras saved 159 lives through the 4-year period by helping prevent crashes involving red-light runners.

"We know that there are a lot of examples of these cameras working well in municipalities to promote traffic safety," Brown said.
