BUFFALO, N.Y. – June 6, 2012 – The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society (BECHS) continues its summer family and youth events at the Historical Society’s museum, located at 25 Nottingham Court-off of Elmwood Avenue.
Sunday, July 1, Family Day “Independence Celebration”, 1-4 p.m.
Museum admission; free for adult members - $5 for all children| In Commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. Period entertainment, tours, scavenger hunts, crafts, lemonade, and hot dogs on the grill.
Tuesday, July 3, Toddler Story Time, Peace Gardens, 10-11 a.m.
Museum admission; free for members | Storytelling, crafts, and an exploration tour of the Japanese Peace Gardens on the grounds of the Historical Society and Frederick Law Olmsted Parkway system. Event will take place indoors if weather is inclement without garden tour.
Friday, July 6, "Ever After" Exhibit Opening! 5:30-7:00 p.m. (Running through 2013)
Museum admission; free for members | A not-to-be-missed exhibit that celebrates the Historical Society’s 150th Anniversary. Visitors will discover how the museum builds and shares its collection with its community while viewing some of the Society’s most intriguing and rarely displayed artifacts.
July, Saturday 7 & Sunday 8, Taste of Buffalo
Free | We’ll be in Niagara Square with fellow sesquicentennial celebrants, the Albright Knox Art Gallery and the Buffalo Science Museum. Stop by and wish us a happy One Five Oh!

Museum admission; free for members| Storytelling, hands-on craft activities, and a guided tour through “Ever After”, the exhibit celebrating the Museum’s 150th anniversary.
