Local Artist Brings Canvas to Life with Incredible Nature Scenes

Lancaster native Phillip Schulte has always loved the great outdoors. The avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman also happens to be a very talented artist specializing in acrylic painting. And now, his two passions have come together with the release of five prints — and the results are truly stunning.

The five acrylic painting available as prints include a peregrine falcon, steelhead trout, cheetah, grizzly bears and a Kestrel falcon. Additional wildlife prints will be available in the near future.

BUFFALO, NEW YORK, March 22, 2013 – Dyngus Day Buffalo has released its schedule of official events and participating venues for the 2013 Dyngus Day Festival. Western New York’s legendary post-Lenten party is expected to attract upwards of 100,000 participants at sites that feature live polka music, authentic Polish food & drink and pussy willows.

Dog Ears Gala to Feature the Music of Cash, Presley

Dog Ears Bookstore, a nonprofit neighborhood bookstore, will hold its fifth annual fundraising gala from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Buffalo Irish Center, 245 Abbott Road, South Buffalo. 

The event will feature a “Cash vs. King” theme, featuring live music by A Band Named Sue playing the hits of Johnny Cash, and Sun of Memphis playing Elvis Presley’s greatest hits. The gala will also feature a “Taste of the Southtowns” showcasing foods from more than 20 local restaurants.

Buffalo Chamber Players Present Two WNY Opera Premieres

Buffalo, NY – On Wednesday, March 20, the Buffalo Chamber Players present Yeats and the Moon: Two Operas. The performance takes place at Buffalo Seminary and features John Harbison’s Full Moon in March and Roland E. Martin’s The Cat and the Moon, two chamber operas based on plays by Irish poet and dramatist William Butler Yeats. The ensemble is joined by an all-star cast of Western New York singers and actors.
