URBAN LAND INSTITUTE’S YOUNG LEADERS GROUP OF WESTERN NEW YORK HOSTS 225 ATTENDEES AT EXCLUSIVE STATLER CITY UNVEILING

Event included a tour and presentation by Mark Croce and redevelopment team

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders Group of Western New York (YLG), a global nonprofit research and education institute geared towards young working professionals, recently hosted a presentation, self-guided tour and networking event for 225 people at Statler City in downtown Buffalo. Statler City is developer Mark Croce’s rebirth of the Statler Hotel and Buffalo’s first mixed-use entertainment destination.

During the presentation, Croce unveiled a number of tenant negotiations in the works including Muscoreils Café and Bakery, an upscale fitness center, and a regional bank. Robert E. Knoer, legal representative for Statler City and founder of The Knoer Group, PLLC, also discussed a possible public-private partnership opportunity with the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center to build a 50,000 square foot building above Statler City’s banquet facility to connect the two buildings in an effort to attract and accommodate larger conventions to the region.

“Mark’s commitment to preserving the Statler and incorporating his business philosophy to make it a successful and thriving operation speaks volumes of his dedication to the City of Buffalo,” says Knoer. “While banquet, event space, and multiple bars and restaurants are planned for the lower levels of Statler City, Mark has decided to let the market dictate what the highest and best purpose for the towers will be.”

The self-guided tour included passage to the following rooms currently undergoing renovations:
• Rendezvous Room – a high-end, sophisticated Manhattan-style nightclub with V.I.P. areas and a resident DJ. The space will contain black décor, black crystal chandeliers, mirrored columns and hot pink accents.
• The Jazz Lounge – this space is being restored back to its early days as The Downtown Room where musicians and their fans enjoyed live music amidst the ambiance of elegance accompanied by a cocktail.
• The Terrace Room – welcoming group events up to 400 people, this banquet-style room has been restored and updated with new floors, lighting, and décor.
• Golden Ballroom – with seating up to 700, The Golden Ballroom is the venue’s largest space with renovation work that includes a refinished ceiling, new carpeting, new window treatments and refurbished flooring.
• Grande Lobby and Palm Court – originally the lobby of the hotel, tile flooring is being refurbished and architectural detailing of the ceilings and archways are underway. Originally a hole overlooking the basement in the middle of the lobby is now a constructed water feature and koi pond.
