Blessed Sacrament Church Celebrates 125th Anniversary | Community Spirit

A Statement Released by Blessed Sacrament Church

BUFFALO, NY – June 5, 2012 – On Sunday, June 10th, Blessed Sacrament Church-Buffalo will observe the 125th anniversary of the laying of its cornerstone in 1887 and kick off a yearlong anniversary celebration. The announcement was made jointly by Father Paul R. Bossi, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, and Michael P. Pitek III, anniversary chairman.

Coinciding with the Feast of Corpus Christi, the kick-off and observance will begin with a concelebrated Anniversary Mass at 10:00 am, presided over by Fr. Bossi.  This is a special, one-Mass only Sunday where the usual 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses will be combined. Following the Mass, a procession of the Blessed Sacrament will be made outside to adjacent properties, Timon Towers and the Sheehan Residence for retired priests.

A sold-out Anniversary Reception, chaired by Sheila Lopez with Mary McCracken as co-chair, will be held immediately following the procession on the church grounds under a Celebration Tent. 

A yearlong schedule of events, concluding with an Anniversary Gala and concelebrated Mass of Thanksgiving in June 2013, is planned to further commemorate the occasion. In addition, a 125th Anniversary Prayer written by parishioner Sam LaDuca and a 125th Anniversary Hymn written by Music Director Donald Jenczka have been created along with a commemorative logo co-designed by Lopez and Pitek.
