Join the Freudig Singers for 'Favorites from Stage and Screen'

Freudig Singers revive the will to live with Favorites from Stage and Screen, the final concert of their 27th year to be held on Friday, May 6th at Blessed Trinity Church and May 8th at MusicalFare Theatre.

Directed by Roland E. Martin, Favorites from Stage and Screen will include songs penned by Charles Strouse, Richard Rodgers, John Kander, Stephen Schwartz, Sir Elton John and Irving Berlin, among others.  Discover how nothing will bring on a glow like our new arrangements of Applause, I Love Lucy, and All That Jazz.

Freudig Singers receive requests to perform popular hits all of the time.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cullen Center - located at 845 Kenmore Ave.-  the St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute Alumni Association will launch the inaugural edition of St. Joe’s Distinguished Alumni Speakers Series.  The topic will be “The State of Healthcare in WNY.”

The panelists will include:

Kenneth V. Snyder, MD, PhD ’90.   Kenneth V. Snyder, MD, PhD ’90 has recently joined University at Buffalo Neurosurgery Department as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Radiology. Dr. Snyder completed his MD and PhD training at the University at Buffalo earning a PhD in Biophysics. During his neurosurgical residency, he was awarded both resident of the year and the prestigous Arnold P Gold Foundation's Humanism and Excellence in Teaching.

 Iara Lee: Cultures of Resistance Film Premiere 

Does each gesture really make a difference? Can music and dance be weapons of peace? In 2003, on the eve of the Iraq war, director Iara Lee embarked on a journey to better understand a world increasingly embroiled in conflict and, as she saw it, heading for self-destruction. After several years, travelling over five continents, Iara encountered growing numbers of people who committed their lives to promoting change. This is their story. CULTURES OF RESISTANCE explores how art and creativity can be ammunition in the battle for peace and justice.

Iara Lee, a Brazilian of Korean descent, is an activist, filmmaker, and founder of the Caipirinha Foundation, which supports projects to secure peace with justice.
