Viva Las Vegas to feature Vegas-style games and entertainment

With the skyrocketing cost of airfare, Western New Yorkers looking to visit Las Vegas may not be able to afford the expense.  Viva Las Vegas is the next best thing.  Taking place on April 19, 2012 at the Tonawanda Castle, Viva Las Vegas will feature casino games such as poker and roulette that guests will play with faux money.  It will also feature Vegas-style entertainment as well as hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and drinks.  Proceeds from Viva Las Vegas will benefit the Maddie’s® Pet Rescue Project’s efforts to end the euthanasia of shelter dogs and cats in Erie County.

Viva Las Vegas kicks off at 6:30pm with performances by Miss Gay Pride Buffalo 2011, Veronica Lace, as well as top Elvis impersonator Patrick Johnson.  At the end of the evening, the three guests with the highest amount of chips will win one of three prizes: a complimentary night at the award winning Mansion on Delaware, a $100 gift certificate to Orville’s,

SPCA Serving Erie County to Host “PAWscars” Adoption Event

The SPCA Serving Erie County will be rolling out the red carpet for the “PAWscars”, a star-studded adoption event in honor of the Oscars.  Taking place on Sunday, February 26th from 12pm to 4pm, scores of dogs and cats will be available for adoption.  In celebration, all adoption fees will be half off.  Additionally, each adopter will receive a “Swag Bag” filled with goodies, and will be entered into a basket raffle drawing.

The “PAWscars” promises to be an exciting, family-friendly event.  In addition to the shelter’s dog in a leading role and cat in a leading role nominees, crafts and refreshments will be available.  What’s more, members of the North Ridge Star Wars Fan Club will be present.  Guests are invited to bring their camera and pose for pictures with Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker.

Buffalo, N.Y. - On Wednesday, February 29, from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m., ZGM Fine Arts presents "Take a Leap... A Twenty Nine Percent Solution," an exhibit and sale of artwork for the benefit of the Erie County SPCA. 29% of all sales and proceeds will be donated to the Erie County SPCA.

The event includes refreshments and live music by Cold Dark Train, and features paintings, photography, sculpture, and jewelry on exhibit by Carrie Feltz-Abdo, Eileen Graetz, John LaHood, Erma Kratzke, and Diann and Zinteck.

A gift basket raffle ($125.00 value of pet supplies) will be held courtesy of Animal Outfitters, Inc. of 986 Elmwood Ave. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 10 for $5.00 available at ZGM Fine Arts or Animal Outfitters. The prize will be drawn at 1:00 p.m., Sunday March 25 at ZGM Fine Arts (need not be present).

The Maddie's Pet Rescue Project has announced a jackpot of $7,500 for its first annual Save the Strays Sweepstakes.  Raffle tickets can be purchased for $20.  Ticket holders are then entered into a drawing for the grand prize, as well as a trip for two to Orlando, including airfare and three nights hotel, and a Kindle Fire.  The drawing will take place on February 29, 2012.
