Starlight Studio: BlazeVOX [Books]: Genesis

On June 3, 2011, Starlight Studio and Art Gallery, The Learning Disabilities Association of Western New York, in conjunction with BlazeVOX [Books] present: "Genesis."

Starlight's Genesis, an Anthology of the Starlight Gallery edited by Katherine Loewen is Starlight Studio's first published book of poetry. The anthology will be released on Friday June 3, 2011 as a book launch event at Starlight Studio and Art Gallery, 340 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY from 7-10 pm.

This FREE event will feature Hutchinson Central Technical High School’s gypsy jazz guitar ensemble, The Six String Circus, Buffalo's own original jazz group, The Three Headed Giant, poetry readings, and refreshments.The book will be available to purchase for $20 and the poets will be there to autograph anthologies.

The Buffalo Infringement Festival (BIF) is an 11-day long multi-genre arts festival in Buffalo, NY.

It is free for all artists to participate, everyone is accepted and artists keep 100% of the profits from their projects and performances. The art that is typically Under the Radar is exemplified.

The Buffalo Infringement Festival is a non-profit-driven, non-hierarchical grassroots endeavor bringing together a broad range of eclectic, independent, experimental, and controversial art of all forms. Visual, performing, musical, and media arts are all welcome here. Taking place in multiple venues in and around Buffalo’s Allentown District, the festival is an annual eleven-day event running from the last weekend of July through the first weekend of August.

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to Open Saturday, May 7

?Several new vendors, talented local entertainers and an Electronic Benefit Transfer system will greet visitors to the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market during the 2011 season. Already one of Western New York’s favorite annual traditions, the market opens for business on Saturday, May 7. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. 

The market features more than 30 vendors — including several with new product offerings — selling fruits, vegetables, baked goods, organics, fresh meat, cut flowers, wine, eggs, dairy, honey, cheese and much more in an open-air setting.

Elmwood Village Spring Clean-up Rescheduled for Saturday, May 14

The Elmwood Village Association has rescheduled its Annual Spring Clean-up for Saturday, May 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

More than 50 volunteers are expected to rake tree beds, pick-up trash, remove graffiti and take posters off of street poles in an effort to spruce up Elmwood Avenue from Forest Avenue to North Street.

Volunteers will meet at the Elmwood Village Association office, located at 1068 Elmwood Avenue, at 9:00 a.m. and are asked to bring their own rake, broom, and gloves for cleanup. Garbage bags, gloves and a limited amount of equipment will be provided.

The Elmwood Avenue Spring Clean-up is a wonderful way to give back to the community and spend some time outside with neighbors and local business owners.

Celebrate a "purrrfect" weekend, and come to the Buffalo Zoo to see our fine felines in action! Enjoy enrichment for the animals and keeper talks about our servals, lions, tigers and snow leopards. BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Elmwood Village Association has cabin fever! Volunteers are needed to help develop and produce another great summer of free music in Bidwell Parkway. Consider attending our upcoming committee meeting on Monday, March 14 at 5:30pm. We'll meet at the Elmwood Village Association office located at 1068 Elmwood Avenue near Bird Avenue.

City Hosting Green Code Workshops

City Hosting Green Code Workshops

The City of Buffalo is hosting free community workshops surrounding its proposal to create a Green Code for the city.  The code represents a new zoning ordinance for the city bringing it into the 21st century.

The plan calls for developing common themes for neighborhoods and regulating what land owners can and cannot do with their property. New rules are being called for as well to reduce energy use and improve neighborhoods for the future.

Workshops will be held in all major neighborhoods in the city at the times and locations below:
