Tough Anti-Texting Measure Is Signed In Orchard Park

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and Senator Patrick M. Gallivan joined together today in Orchard Park to sign legislation to strengthen the state’s law against texting while driving.

The bill, co-sponsored by Senator Gallivan (R,C,I-59th District), gives law enforcement the authority to pull over a motorist who is text messaging, e-mailing, transmitting images, or playing games while driving -- making it a primary traffic offense. Previous statute considered texting while driving a secondary offense, meaning police could only stop a texting driver if they had committed an additional infraction like speeding or failing to stop at a traffic signal.

“Today is about one thing – saving lives,” said Gallivan. “We have seen far too many tragedies caused by driving distracted to sit idly by any longer.

Local artist used 2012 Ford Focus as his blank canvas

BUFFALO, NY – This weekend, local artist Blair Rusin used a new vehicle as his blank canvas, transforming it into a hand-painted, mobile masterpiece during the Allen West Festival. Parked on the corner of Allen and College streets, the exhibit featured a 2012 Ford Focus completely coated in white primer, including the windows, that later became a colorful work of art. The Western New York Ford Dealers supplied the vehicle in the hopes that this first-time festival exhibit would excite car fans and festival-goers alike.

“When have you ever seen anyone hand-paint an entire car?” said Chuck Basil, chairman of the WNY Ford Dealers. “This dramatic visual is sure to draw people in and get them asking about the newly designed Focus. It’s a beautiful vehicle and it gets 40 miles per gallon.”

WNY Ford Dealers award 2011 Ford F-150 with EcoBoost™ to John Domres of Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY – Friday, John E. Domres, Jr. of Buffalo beat a one in 12 chance to drive away in a brand-new 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck with EcoBoost™, courtesy of the Western New York Ford Dealers.

At the WYRK NAPA Auto Parts Taste of Country, a dozen contestants dressed in exclusive Ford-branded cowboy hats and t-shirts anxiously stood on Coca-Cola Field hoping that WYRK's Clay Moden and Dale Mussen would not call their names. A reverse-style lottery eliminated contestants when their names were announced, leaving only Mr. Domres and one other contestant left standing. Each then received a key to the truck. Both pressed the alarm button on their key and it was Mr. Domres who won the showdown as the alarm sounded on the red candy-colored grand prize.
